Amblyopia is not myopia, it is heavier than myopia!

Amblyopia and nearsightedness are two different diseases, which are fundamentally different. Amblyopia has an early onset, mostly in preschool children, and is an eye disease in which the development of visual function is delayed and disturbed and cannot be corrected to normal vision even with glasses, often accompanied by strabismus, high refractive error, and poor vision at distance and near. Myopia usually develops late and is often found in school-age children and adolescents. It is an eye disease caused by excessive tension in the regulating muscles (ciliary muscles) in the eye or by the elongation of the eye axis due to various reasons (such as genetics), which makes it difficult to see clearly in the distance and clear in the near. Myopic children can usually recover normal vision after wearing glasses. Amblyopia is much more harmful to children’s visual function than myopia. Because myopia is only a loss of vision when looking at a distance, it is not accompanied by other visual impairment, and vision correction is not limited by age. In contrast, children with amblyopia not only have low vision that cannot be corrected, but also affect the development of binocular vision, and may have no binocular monocular vision, no stereopsis, and confused spatial visual development. If not cured in time, they cannot be competent in driving, mapping and fine work, which not only affects the work future, but also directly affects the quality of our population, and there is a time window for amblyopia treatment, and there is basically no hope of curing amblyopia patients who are over 12 years old. According to the survey, 20% of people who have car accidents are lack of stereo vision. Many professions and positions have sharp stereo vision as a requirement for recruitment, and every year, some candidates are forced to change their volunteer because they do not have perfect stereo vision in the college entrance examination. In addition, due to the lack of stereo vision, people with amblyopia feel great inconvenience in learning, living, and sports. With the rapid development of science and technology, many occupations and types of work, such as pilots, various motor vehicle (ship) drivers, athletes, the operation of various precision machinery and the manufacture of precision instruments and meters, microsurgery, remote sensing, telemetry and other professionals need excellent stereo vision function, because it is directly related to the efficiency and quality of work, personal safety and the combat effectiveness of the troops.
