Abstract: To summarize the different TCM treatments for chronic prostatitis in 1995, among which 10 treatments are more commonly used, including the method of clearing heat and relieving dampness, the method of activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis, and the method of clearing and activating blood circulation. We also randomly selected 79 compound prescriptions with fixed formulae, and counted a total of 119 drugs. Among them, 25 were used for clearing and invigorating blood, 14 for invigorating blood stasis, 11 for clearing heat and dampness, 7 for tonifying the kidney and clearing blood stasis, 5 for tonifying and benefiting, and 17 for other treatments; the top 10 most frequently used herbs were: Huang Bai, Che Qian Zi, Dioscorea Z, Dan Shen, Wang Bu Liu Xing, Bai Hua Shi Tong Tong Cao, Wild Chrysanthemum, Tao Ren, Dandelion, and Sulforaphum. The method of clearing the blood and activating the blood, the method of activating the blood and removing blood stasis, and the method of clearing heat and relieving dampness dominate in the treatment of chronic prostatitis. Chronic prostatitis (CP) is a common disease among young and middle-aged men, which belongs to the “gonorrhea”, “urinary turbidity”, “seminal turbidity”, “lumbago”, and “retention of urine” in traditional Chinese medicine. “It is a common disease among young and middle-aged men. The Chinese medicine treatment of chronic prostatitis is more and more effective. The different TCM treatments for this disease since 1995 are reviewed as follows.
1 Clear heat and dampness method
It has the effect of removing damp-heat from the lower jiao and is suitable for patients with damp-heat evidence. Gao Zizhou [1] considered CP to be heavy with damp-heat and formulated his own Hui Chun Tang (rhubarb, smallpox powder, red vine, xuan ginseng, gentian grass, etc.) to treat 160 cases of CP, with 63 cases cured and 73 cases with apparent effect, with an overall efficiency of 100%. Zhou Laimin [2] treated 26 cases of CP each with Bazheng San and western medicine ciprofloxacin, 30 days as a course of treatment, and observed that the efficacy of Bazheng San was significantly better than that of ciprofloxacin after two consecutive courses of treatment.
2 Blood activation and stasis removal method
It has the effect of activating blood circulation and resolving blood stasis, and is suitable for patients with blood stasis evidence. Shi Zhichao [3] used the dialectical idea of “blood stasis in the jingdao” and formulated his own Chaihulu Jingduwan (Chaihu, leech, cowherd’s knee, red flowering gong ying, etc.) to treat more than 3000 cases of CP, with a total effective rate of 94.17%.
