In vitro survival time of HIV

HIV survival time in vitro varies depending on the environment and temperature, and usually survives for 2-8 hours in vitro.

HIV is infectious but not very viable in vitro, does not tolerate high temperatures, low temperatures and has poor resistance. If HIV is directly exposed outside the body, it may die instantly. The survival time of HIV contained in blood and body fluids outside the body is related to the amount of blood and body fluids, the content of the virus, and the temperature. If the amount of blood and body fluids is small and the virus content is low, death can occur in a few minutes outside the body. If the volume of blood or body fluids containing HIV is relatively large, it can generally survive for 2-8 hours at room temperature.

HIV is not resistant to high temperatures, direct boiling water scalding with the sun and so on can quickly destroy the virus. In daily life, shaking hands, hugging, coughing, sneezing and other contact, will not transmit HIV.
