A few common sense questions about pediatric trauma

  Traumatic injuries are now the number one cause of death in children. The number of deaths caused by accidental injuries among children in China is 90,000 per year, and those resulting in disability is 750,000.  The main causes of death from accidental injuries: suffocation, drowning, traffic accidents and poisoning.  The main causes of accidental injury and disability: fall injuries, burns and animal injuries.  Prevention of accidental injuries: It requires the improvement of government and legal system; the attention of the whole society such as schools and media and the active participation of medical workers to get satisfactory results.  Pediatric trauma has the following characteristics: the main causes of injuries are different at different ages, such as fall injuries within 1 year old, burns around 1 year old, accidental falls in preschool, traffic accidents in school age and adolescence; the defense reaction of children is not perfect, and the post-injury period is easily complicated by shock and damage to multiple organs of the whole body; the language expression ability of children is not perfect and they cannot complain about the injury, and they are uncooperative in physical examination. They are uncooperative, which makes it difficult to assess injuries comprehensively.
