半夏白术天麻 i.e. 半夏白术天麻汤 is a Chinese medicine formula. It can treat vertigo caused by wind and phlegm. The drug should be used under the guidance of a doctor. In the formula of Semixia Baijutsu Tianma Tang, Semixia dries dampness and resolves phlegm; Tianma calms the liver and quenches wind (regulates the function of the liver to get rid of wind caused by abnormal function of the internal organs); Atractylodes Macrocephalae and Poria strengthens the spleen and dries dampness; Tangerine red dries dampness and eliminates phlegm; Chenpi regulates qi and resolves phlegm; Licorice harmonizes the properties of the medicines. The combination of the above herbs has the effect of resolving phlegm and quenching wind, strengthening the spleen and dispelling dampness, and is often used in treating phlegm-beverage (a pathological product formed as a result of impaired metabolism of water and liquids) upward reversal, dizziness and vertigo, nausea and vomiting.
