In the earliest days, I was answering patients’ questions through the Soi mailing list. Remember, there was an Internet-related conference in Shanghai, and the now famous Ctrip.com was just starting out. By this count, it has been more than ten years of voluntary consultation on the Internet. I have accumulated some experience and knowledge in my work, and I would like to share them with you. Ten years ago, I received a letter from a man who said that his father woke up in the morning with blood in his sputum. I wrote back and told him, “You must go to the hospital with your father to have his chest CT and fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Later he wrote to tell me that thanks to my reminder (because his father believed in the expert’s opinion), the lung cancer was detected early, and timely surgery was performed to save his life. He also expressed his great gratitude. This is a typical example of benefiting from online consultation. Why do people benefit from online consultation? I have analyzed and summarized that they all have the following common characteristics: 1. Clear and specific symptoms. This is crucial, regardless of whether you see a doctor online or offline, you must clearly tell the doctor where you are not feeling well. Like the patient above who complained of morning sputum with blood. 2. Be clear about when the symptoms occur or appear and what they are associated with. For example, coughing when you smell paint; stomach pain when you are hungry; shortness of breath when you go upstairs or walk quickly; coughing in winter and relieving in spring; etc. Name the specific time, or the associated time. 3. The symptoms are described in a chronological manner, little by little. For example: abdominal pain in the morning of January 1, a burst, sometimes light and sometimes heavy. Vomiting several times, did not vomit anything, just nausea. on the morning of January 2, abdominal pain reduced, began to fever, temperature 38.8 degrees 。。。。。。 4. Accurate information about the diagnosis, test results and medication for each visit to the doctor. How can we do this? Here is a trick to introduce to you. When you are going to see a doctor, or before you consult online, take out a white sheet of paper. In the center of the white paper, draw a horizontal line from left to right, and then record your symptoms and treatment, in chronological order, above and below this line. The following chart: Abdominal pain Fever 38.8 degrees Emergency infusion Appendicitis hospitalization Surgery —|—–| —–|—- —|—–|– — Jan. 1 Jan. 2 Jan. 3 Jan. 4 Jan. 5 Such a carefully documented medical history is very helpful to the doctor for analysis, judgment and diagnosis of the disease. Especially with chronic diseases, the medical history is long and complex. Especially with online consultations, the doctor cannot meet you face to face and ask and answer questions. So it becomes more important. As long as the consultation is fully prepared before the person, take you to get the maximum benefit.
