How to treat vaginal cramps

Vaginal spasm is a clinical manifestation of female sexual dysfunction, which is triggered by both mental and organic causes (such as thick and tough hymen, gynecological inflammation, vaginal stenosis, age-related vaginitis, and damage caused by childbirth). Treatment of vaginal cramps should firstly be suspended to avoid physical pain and psychological fear of sexual intercourse; secondly, the cause of the cramps should be identified in a regular hospital: if it is caused by mental factors (e.g. lack of knowledge about sex leading to emotional tension or other psychological disorders), the doctor or partner should let the patient know that the development and function of her sexual organs are completely normal, and she can be given the necessary sex education or be guided to release the psychological disorders. If the cause is organic, the vaginal spasm will be eliminated after the primary disease is improved. In addition, patients can undergo training on vaginal muscle relaxation and vaginal accommodation under the guidance of a specialist, or they can perform similar vaginal dilation with their fingers 2-3 times a day. These have been shown to be effective in relieving vaginal spasms. Vaginismus has a great impact on women and needs to be treated promptly, otherwise it can have an impact on the couple’s life.
