The most basic test for cough variant asthma is the bronchodilator test or bronchial provocation test. Our procedure is to perform a routine pulmonary function test first and then perform a bronchial provocation test if the pulmonary function test is normal. If the pulmonary function test indicates obstructive ventilation dysfunction or small airway pathology, a bronchodilator test can be performed, and these tests cost about $240. If the patient’s symptoms are typical and the bronchodilator test is positive or the bronchial excitation test is positive, the diagnosis of cough variant asthma can be established. Some patients who still cannot get a clear diagnosis after the above tests need to undergo some other tests, such as chest CT, FeNO, gastroscopy, 24-hour PH monitoring of the esophagus, etc., and then the cost of the test is not easy to say. In addition, the charges vary from region to region.
