How long does it usually take for pulpitis to go untreated?

Pulpitis is a relatively common clinical condition, and pain is one of the main symptoms of pulpitis. The duration of pain without pulpitis treatment varies from person to person and needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. If the patient has reversible pulpitis and has good resistance and oral maintenance, the pain may be relieved in a few days after the appropriate treatment; however, if the patient has irreversible pulpitis, it is usually accompanied by severe pain, radiating pain, and nighttime pain, and the pain will only be relieved after a few days or weeks of gradual necrosis of the pulp. However, without timely treatment to control the infection, the tooth will experience recurrent pain due to periapical infection even if it improves slightly. Therefore, it is recommended that patients with pulpitis should go to a hospital dentistry department in a timely manner to receive oral treatment with pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory drugs under the guidance of a doctor, and if necessary, root canal treatment. Patients with pulpitis should pay attention to oral hygiene, rinse their mouth after meals, brush their teeth in the morning and evening, avoid hot, cold, sour, sweet and other stimulating foods, and go to the hospital’s dental department for regular checkups and treatment.
