Can a chest CT detect bronchitis?

Bronchial chest CT may show abnormalities, but sometimes they may be completely normal and should be analyzed in the context of the specific disease. Bronchitis can be categorized into acute bronchitis and chronic bronchitis. Acute bronchitis may show thickening of lung texture on chest CT; chronic bronchitis may also show the above changes and may be accompanied by emphysema and other related signs, so sometimes bronchitis can be detected by chest CT. However, part of acute/chronic bronchitis may be completely normal on chest CT, and bronchitis cannot be detected only on the basis of CT; it needs to be analyzed in combination with the patient’s clinical features, and the diagnosis is made only after pneumonia is excluded by chest CT. To summarize, chest CT is relatively important for bronchitis, but may need to be combined with the patient’s clinical features and other comprehensive evaluation to make a judgment.
