What’s going on with pancreatitis?

Pancreatitis is a disease of the pancreas caused by the auto-digestive action of trypsin, and can be categorized into acute pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis. It is associated with gallstones, alcohol consumption, and reflux of duodenal fluid. 1. Gallstones: Gallstones are the main cause of pancreatitis, and biliary pancreatitis accounts for more than 50% of cases. Gallstones can block the end of the common bile duct, causing bile to flow back into the pancreas. Bile salts in the bile activate the pancreatic juice, causing it to enter the tissues around the follicles and inducing pancreatitis. 2. Alcohol consumption: Ethanol can directly damage the pancreas, but it can also promote pancreatic fluid secretion, cause duodenal papillary edema and spasm of the sphincter of Oddi, resulting in increased intra-pancreatic ductal pressure and triggering damage to alveolar cells. Ethanol also triggers factors in the inflammatory pathway, activating the inflammatory response and leading to pancreatitis. 3. Duodenal reflux: When the duodenal diverticulum, duodenal inflammatory stenosis and other diseases lead to increased pressure in the duodenum, the duodenal fluid can reflux into the pancreatic duct to the pancreas, resulting in pancreatic cell damage and inducing pancreatitis. The development of pancreatitis is also associated with metabolic diseases, infections, and over-eating. After the occurrence of pancreatitis, you should go to the hospital for timely treatment, otherwise it will be life-threatening.
