What causes swelling and pain in the corners of the eyes

Swelling and pain in the corner of the eye is usually caused by granuloma or blepharitis.
1. Blepharitis: it occurs in children and adolescents because of the bad habit of not paying attention to eye hygiene, such as rubbing the eyes with dirty hands, which leads to acute bacterial infection of the eyelid glands or eyelash follicles inside the eyelid, and it can be treated by applying antibiotic eye ointment such as ofloxacin eye ointment and tobramycin eye ointment.
2. Blepharitis: patients of any age may develop, mainly due to chronic bacterial infections in the eyelid margins, requiring regular antibiotic eye drops, such as chloramphenicol eye drops, moxifloxacin eye drops and so on.
Patients with swelling and pain in the corner of the eye may also be caused by other reasons, and should go to the ophthalmology department of the hospital in a timely manner, so that the doctor can identify the causes for targeted treatment.
