When waking up with watery eyes in the morning, the following conditions are generally considered: First, if waking up with watery eyes in the morning is accompanied by significant conjunctival congestion or with increased discharge from the corners of the eyes, consider acute conjunctivitis. In the early stages of acute conjunctivitis, the symptoms are not very obvious, so they will be manifested as symptoms such as watery eyes and foreign body sensation. If tearing is accompanied by an obvious foreign body sensation, it is best to visit an ophthalmology clinic. Acute conjunctivitis should be treated with frequent eye drops in a timely manner by giving the appropriate eye drops. Secondly, if you wake up in the morning with watery eyes, if it is accompanied by eye pain, grinding and photophobia, it is best to go to the hospital ophthalmology department and be seen by an ophthalmologist. See if there is a foreign body in the cornea of the eye, especially if you have been exposed to iron filings in the last two days, which tend to enter the eye and remain on the cornea, leading to obvious congestion, foreign body sensation and watery eyes. Thirdly, if there is running tears in the morning, we should also check whether there is facial palsy. Some patients have facial palsy at night, so they will get up in the morning with running tears in the eyes, crooked mouth and eyes, blowing and leaking, and brushing their teeth and running water outwards. This condition should be treated promptly at the hospital and in the appropriate department in a timely manner.
