There are many parts of the calf that appear bruised, usually the front and outside of the calf, the front and inside of the calf, and the back of the calf. Bruising occurs in different locations and conditions, but most bruising is usually a sign of subcutaneous bleeding in the soft tissues. If a sprain is sustained, the muscle is damaged and bleeds subcutaneously, the bruise will occur. Vascular lesions and sometimes improper massage forces can also cause subcutaneous bruising, which can produce bruising. You can apply cold compresses at the initial stage, and you can also apply topical blood-stasis-activating drugs to make it slowly subside.
