What is vertigo consultation how to

The reason why we are talking about vertigo is because of a consultation in the WeChat group tonight. The dizziness of a fellow otorhinolaryngologist of my undergraduate studies has been treated for nearly half a year, but he is still scratching his head, and he was admitted to the best local hospital, but still could not be diagnosed clearly. “As you go,” the sentiment, a sigh of relief. Think about it, even the ENT doctors themselves are sometimes at a loss as to how to consult and treat the patient, not to mention the suffering public. A few years ago, I remember a dizzy patient saying that it is luck that you can choose the right department and doctor. If you are lucky, the problem will be solved at once, but if you are not, you will be tossed around blindly. He was bounced around from ENT, neurology, cardiology, spine, and physical therapy departments of major hospitals for getting up and lying down briefly with vertigo ….. Unfortunately, the first ENT doctor he met gave him a bunch of tests and said he couldn’t see any problem and asked him to go to a big hospital in the province, but he went to the otolaryngology department of the big hospital in the province, and this otolaryngologist said it was not the business of the otolaryngology department and referred him to the neurology department, which prescribed him a bunch of medications for vertigo, which was ineffective for 2 weeks. Later, he was referred to the physiotherapy department and was told that it was “cervical spondylosis” and he had traction, but it was still ineffective, so he went to the neurology department again, but a doctor in the neurology department directed him to the ear, nose and throat department and found a doctor who could see dizziness. In five minutes, he solved the problem that had confused him for two months, leaving him with a mixture of sadness and joy. This patient’s experience was similar to that of the family of the ENT doctor we are discussing tonight, and I have encountered many such patients over the past few years and have been deeply touched by them. However, what I want to say is that there are too many factors behind the “good fate”. Vertigo is a complex disease that involves many disciplines, and it is also a disease that makes doctors “dizzy”. Nowadays, vertigo medicine integrates various knowledge systems of ear, nose and throat, neurology, ophthalmology and rehabilitation medicine, which cannot be covered by a single discipline, that’s why there are various departments to consult. But unfortunately, the consultation system of some hospitals cannot provide professional guidance to help patients choose the right department and doctor in the first time. We have made a statistical comparison of the reasons why patients with “otoliths” visit different departments for the first time and recurrence, and we hope to help more patients with this article.
