Which is more serious, lung carcinoma in situ or adenocarcinoma in situ?

There is no such thing as which is more serious: lung carcinoma in situ or adenocarcinoma in situ, because adenocarcinoma in situ is one of the many types of lung carcinoma in situ. It is suggested that patients with lung carcinoma in situ should undergo surgery as soon as possible according to the doctor’s advice, which has a certain chance to cure the disease.

Lung carcinoma in situ is categorized into many types, such as adenocarcinoma in situ, squamous carcinoma in situ and so on. Lung carcinoma in situ means that the primary lesion is in the lungs and has not yet metastasized, therefore, it is also considered as early stage lung cancer. Patients may have symptoms such as coughing up sputum, hemoptysis and chest tightness. It can be treated by thoracoscopic surgery and complete resection of lung cancer as prescribed by doctor.

Since the lesion has not yet metastasized, there is a higher chance that the disease will be cured through surgery. If the disease develops to the middle or late stage, the cancer cells will spread, and the chance of cure will decrease, which will also jeopardize the patient’s life.

Therefore, it is recommended that patients with carcinoma in situ be detected and treated as early as possible, and that they should go to the hospital for regular checkups after the surgery to determine their physical recovery and whether the disease has recurred.
