Itchy and enlarged black nevus may indicate that the nevus is in the active stage, or it may be a precursor of malignant changes.
1. Nevus is generally a pigmented nevus, and there are three types of pigmented nevus: junctional nevus, mixed nevus and intradermal nevus. Junctional nevi are usually small in size and do not protrude from the skin, while junctional nevi gradually change to form larger intradermal nevi that protrude from the skin. The process of change belongs to mixed hemorrhoids, and some patients will have mild itching sensation when the nevus starts to change in activity.
2. Some pigmented nevi have the possibility of malignant transformation to form skin malignant tumors. Before the formation of malignant tumors, the nevi usually have some changes, such as becoming larger and darker in a short time, forming red halos around the nevi, asymmetry, breaking, and having obvious itching or pain and other changes.
If a pigmented mole starts to itch or become bigger, it is best to go to the hospital in time to confirm whether there is any risk of malignant changes. Avoid trauma or prolonged exposure to sunlight in order to avoid stimulating malignant transformation of pigmented moles.
