Are atrophic lines a precursor to skin cancer?

There is little correlation between atrophic lines and skin cancer. Atrophic lines are atrophic linear stripes formed when skin swelling causes elastic fibres to become brittle or excessively stretched. They are a type of skin damage and do not develop into skin cancer. Skin cancer, on the other hand, is a malignant tumour of the skin, caused by abnormal cell proliferation and differentiation.
