Contact lenses can be worn for up to a few hours a day

Contact lenses should not be worn for more than 8 hours per day, and the longest should not exceed 10-14 hours. Contact lenses are divided into soft corneal contact lenses and hard gas permeable corneal contact lenses, soft corneal contact lenses made of water-containing polymer compounds, the first day wearing 2-4 hours, the second day wearing about 6 hours, the third day wearing about 8 hours, after the daily wearing time should not exceed 10 hours; hard gas permeable contact lenses made of harder hydrophobic materials, oxygen permeability is better, but should not exceed 14 hours per day. Contact lenses are in direct contact with the patient’s cornea, and wearing them for too long can cause corneal tissue hypoxia, visual fatigue, dry eyes and other symptoms, and even keratitis due to insufficient oxygen, sweat and tears can easily violate contact lenses and endanger eye health. Therefore, before going to bed at night, patients should take off their contact lenses and put them in a care solution to clean and disinfect them. It is recommended to take off the contact lenses when bathing to prevent the glasses from being contaminated and causing inflammation.
