Which fundus diseases can be treated with lasers

There are many types of fundopathies, but they often have a serious impact on the patient’s vision and quality of life. The causes vary and, in general, there is a lack of clear and effective therapeutic drugs. Some diseases, if not treated in time, often lead to serious complications and even blindness. Since the introduction of laser technology into ophthalmology, especially in the treatment of fundopathy, some diseases that used to pose a serious threat to the patient’s vision can be treated with laser therapy to minimize complications and preserve the patient’s useful vision. The mechanism of laser treatment of fundopathy is mainly: photocoagulation, so that the retinal choroid produces adhesion, thus closing the retinal fissure, or direct closure of retinal hemorrhage leakage, etc.; to reduce the oxygen consumption of the retina, reduce the production of vascular growth factor, thus reducing the occurrence of ocular neovascularization. The common fundus diseases that can be treated with laser include: diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein obstruction, retinal vein periphlebitis, retinal choroidal hemangiomas, retinal tears, degeneration and so on.
