The relationship between prostatitis and male infertility

Prostatitis is a common disease among young adults and generally has no effect on a person’s health. Most young people suffer from this symptom to varying degrees, but it has little to do with male infertility. The actual two are related? The relationship between prostatitis and fertility has not yet been fully elucidated. Some patients naturally link the two directly because of infertility, and individuals are even afraid to marry for fear of prostatitis affecting fertility. And some doctors will also look for the cause of male infertility firmly locked in the prostatitis, this situation seems to be a little too far-fetched. When inflammation occurs in the prostate, the amount of prostatic fluid secretion decreases, thus reducing the amount of semen and interfering with the survival and activity of sperm, as well as decreasing the activity of enzymes in the prostatic fluid, increasing the viscosity of semen and prolonging the liquefaction time. In addition, the presence of inflammation can also raise the pH of semen and cause the body to produce anti-sperm antibodies, which can cause sperm death. The presence of a large number of bacteria and bacterial toxins in the prostate fluid due to inflammation can deplete the nutrients in the seminal plasma, thus affecting the survival of sperm, and may further reduce fertility due to the heavy use of antibiotics. In fact, the majority of male infertility patients with chronic prostatitis have relatively mild symptoms, and clinically, individual patients with severe inflammation of the prostate gland can remain unscathed. The causes of male infertility are very complex, and if too much emphasis is placed on chronic prostatitis, other causes are often overlooked, which delays treatment and may also aggravate the fear of infertility in men with infertility.
