Why high myopia should not do strenuous exercise

High myopia refers to myopic eyes with more than 600 degrees of nearsightedness, which is more dangerous. In addition to not being able to see clearly, high myopia can lead to a series of structural changes in the fundus of the eye, which can even lead to blindness in severe cases. As high myopia continues to elongate with the eye axis, the atrophic lesions of the retina and choroid in the fundus progress, and the possibility of retinal fissures, detachment, macular hemorrhage and other lesions is greater than normal, so strenuous exercise should be avoided. Especially activities with direct impact or obvious shock to the eye and head, such as diving, bungee jumping, boxing, high jumping and violent shaking games such as roller coasters in amusement parks. Basketball, soccer and badminton can be played, but care must be taken to protect the eyes to avoid injury.
