Can children with frequent blinking heal themselves?

Frequent blinking in children can be caused by a variety of reasons, some of which can be cured on their own, but others need to be cured by finding the cause. If frequent blinking in children is caused by visual fatigue, parents should avoid their children’s long-term use of electronic devices, increase their children’s time spent outdoors, and after a period of reasonable eye use, children’s frequent blinking behavior can be relieved or even disappear. Seasonal allergies, impingement, and dry eye can cause eye inflammation, which can also cause children to blink frequently due to discomfort. Seasonal allergies can resolve on their own, but they can recur, and impingement and dry eye often do not heal on their own and need to be treated accordingly. Physical disorders such as ADHD and Tourette’s syndrome can also cause children to blink frequently and generally do not heal on their own. If parents notice frequent blinking in their children, they should ask them carefully about how they are feeling so that they can understand the cause more quickly and get prompt treatment. If the child is not suffering from eye strain, but still blinks frequently, parents should take the child to an ophthalmologist for treatment to identify the specific problem and then provide targeted treatment.
