Symptoms and manifestations of bronchitis

Symptoms and manifestations of bronchitis vary according to the type, e.g. acute tracheo-bronchitis with cough and sputum, chronic bronchitis with cough and sputum with wheezing; capillary bronchitis with paroxysmal cough; wheezing bronchitis with cough and sputum with croup; and obliterative bronchiolitis with progressively progressing shortness of breath often accompanied by dry cough and wheezing.

1. Acute trachea-bronchitis, the main manifestation of the beginning of a dry cough, then cough sputum, the disease may appear later mucopurulent sputum. Many patients with acute bronchitis also have bronchitis, which is characterized by severe pain behind the sternum during breathing and coughing. The cough usually lasts 10 to 20 days, occasionally extending to 4 weeks or longer. If prolonged, it may evolve into chronic bronchitis.

2. Chronic bronchitis, slow onset, long duration. The main symptoms are coughing, coughing up sputum, or accompanied by wheezing. Coughing is mainly in the morning, and there is cough or sputum during sleep. Cough sputum is usually white mucus and plasma foamy, occasionally with blood. The sputum is more frequent in the early morning, and can be stimulated by waking up or changes in body position.

3. Capillary bronchitis, early symptoms of viral upper respiratory tract infection, 1~2 days after the rapid progress of the disease, paroxysmal cough, 5~7 days to reach the peak of the disease.

4. Wheezing bronchitis, wheezing bronchitis, also known as asthmatic bronchitis, with coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, rales in both lungs as the main manifestations, often recurrent episodes.

5. Occlusive fine bronchitis, symptoms and signs often present non-specific. Most patients present with gradually progressive shortness of breath, often accompanied by dry cough and wheezing.

Any discomfort should be sought as soon as possible.
