What are the dietary guidelines for painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis

  This is a list of foods that may bother people with interstitial cystitis, as well as foods and beverages that are acceptable to most people with interstitial cystitis. (Since there are individual differences and each person is different, please adjust your diet to your sensitivity.)  Dairy products Avoid: mature cheese, sour cream, yogurt and chocolate; Suitable: white chocolate, unripe cheese, frozen yogurt and milk  Vegetables Avoid: fava beans, kidney beans (lima beans), onions, tofu, soybeans and soy products, tomatoes; Suitable: other vegetables, beans, fine parsnips, homegrown tomatoes (low acid).  Fruits Avoid: apples, apricots, avocados, bananas, cantaloupe, citrus fruits, cranberries, grapes, nectarines, peaches, pineapples, plums, pomegranates, rhubarb, strawberries, juices made from these fruits; Suitable: all melons except cantaloupe, blueberries, pears.  Sugars and grains Avoid: rye and fermented bread; suitable: other breads, pasta, potatoes, rice.  Meats and fish Avoid: over-aged cured and processed canned or smoked meats or fish, anchovies, caviar, chicken livers, salt-cured beef, meats containing nitrates and nitrites; appropriate: other poultry, fish and meats.  Nuts Avoid: most nuts; suitable: almonds, cashews, pine nuts.  Beverages Avoid: alcoholic beverages (including beer and wine), carbonated beverages such as soda, coffee and tea, fruit juices, especially citrus and cranberry juices; Suitable: non-carbonated bottled water, non-caffeinated non-acidic coffee and tea, some herbal teas.  Condiments Avoid: mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, salsa, spicy foods (such as Chinese, Indian, Mexican and Thai), soy sauce, miso, other soy-based condiments, salad dressings and vinegars; Suitable: garlic and other condiments.  Preservatives and additives Avoid: benzyl alcohol, citric acid, monosodium glutamate, saccharin, foods containing preservatives, artificial additives and colors .  Other Avoid: tobacco, caffeine, diet pills, junk food, cold and flu medications or anti-allergy medications containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, certain vitamins.
