Patients with myocarditis should rest in bed, usually for 2 weeks, and should not be allowed to carry out normal work until they are completely stable. If a patient develops severe arrhythmia or heart failure, they should be kept on bed rest for at least 4 weeks, with adequate sleep, and heavy physical activity restricted for at least 6 months.
