How long can you live with Acinetobacter baumannii infection?

Since Acinetobacter baumannii is a conditionally pathogenic bacterium, the duration of survival after infection depends on one’s immunity, the severity of the disease, and the effectiveness of treatment. A. baumannii infections are mainly caused by antibiotic abuse and can lead to respiratory tract infections, but also bacteremia, urinary tract infections, secondary meningitis, and surgical site infections. Acinetobacter baumannii is a conditionally pathogenic bacterium, and healthy people rarely develop the disease even after infection due to their strong immunity, and it will not have any impact on life cycle. However, in immunocompromised or severely ill patients, or in patients infected with this bacterium after long-term heavy use of antibiotics, the difficulty of treatment and the duration of survival will be affected to varying degrees. When infection with the causative agent is combined with bacteremia and severe pneumonia, the patient’s life may be at risk at any time. Acinetobacter baumannii infection is mainly transmitted by contact, such as not disinfecting hands in a timely manner when caring for critically ill patients, or not strictly cleaning and disinfecting when performing operations such as aspiration, etc. This can lead to Acinetobacter baumannii infection. When caring for critically ill patients, hands must be washed and disinfected in a timely manner, and various utensils used by patients need to be disinfected in a timely manner to avoid infection.
