Does hysteroscopy hurt?

There are two types of hysteroscopic procedures: one is an examination procedure, which will only cause mild abdominal pain and can also be done under anesthesia and is painless; the other is a hysteroscopic procedure, which is a therapeutic procedure and is a minimally invasive procedure performed under general anesthesia and is painless. Hysteroscopy is performed to observe the endometrium and uterine cavity through a hysteroscope. A clear diagnosis is made for the presence of abnormal uterine bleeding, adenomyosis, infertility or recurrent miscarriage, uterine adhesions, and uterine malformations. Hysteroscopy is also needed to evaluate the intrauterine environment before artificial insemination and IVF. Hysteroscopic surgery is performed under anesthesia for endometrial polyp removal, myomectomy, longitudinal hysterectomy, dissection of uterine cavity adhesions, unblocking of fallopian tubes, tubal lavage, foreign body removal, etc. Secondly, hysteroscopic surgery can also take endometrial tissues under the microscope to accurately determine the lesions in the uterine cavity through pathological examination. It is of great significance for early diagnosis of endometrial cancer. Clinically, hysteroscopic surgery under general anesthesia is painless to the patient and the operation time is usually not long, but it may vary according to the condition. There is usually postoperative discomfort such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding, and most of them can recover in 2-3 days after surgery. After surgery, we should also pay attention to a light diet, maintain vulva hygiene, prohibit sexual intercourse, and prohibit bathing and sitz bathing to prevent infection. Therefore, hysteroscopic surgery is painless, so there is no need to worry.
