How much do you know about “hemorrhoids”?

China is a country with “big hemorrhoids”, as the saying goes, “nine out of ten men have hemorrhoids” and “ten out of ten women have hemorrhoids”. In contrast, the incidence of hemorrhoids abroad is around 5%. Hemorrhoids, commonly known as hemorrhoids, are a common disease located in the anal area, and are one of the most common diseases among Chinese people. There are many causes, such as constipation, long-term alcohol consumption, eating a lot of irritating food and being sedentary. In the early stage, the disease may be asymptomatic or with anal discomfort, and may worsen after constipation, alcohol consumption or irritating food. In the later stage, the main manifestation is blood in the stool. The nature of blood in stool is classified as painless, intermittent, fresh blood after stool, dripping blood during stool or blood on hand paper. Mucosal prolapse may also occur. Asymptomatic hemorrhoids do not need treatment, but mainly to avoid aggravation, including attention to diet, avoiding alcohol and spicy stimulating foods, increasing fibrous foods, consuming more fruits and vegetables, drinking more water, changing bad bowel habits, keeping stools open, avoiding prolonged sitting and exercising, etc. Symptomatic hemorrhoids that are not serious can be treated non-surgically, including local medication (various suppositories, creams and lotions, etc.) and ligatures, etc. If the symptoms are serious, combined with anal fissures and fistulas, and conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment is feasible, including external peeling and internal ligation, PPH (anastomotic hemorrhoid circumferential stapling of rectal mucosa), etc. I hope that people without hemorrhoids will take precautions and those with hemorrhoids will be relieved of their pain as soon as possible.
