Eye drops available for itchy eyelids are analysed as follows.
Itchy eyelids are generally more commonly caused by allergic factors and include antihistamines, mast cell stabilisers, complex anti-allergy preparations, glucocorticoids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
The main antihistamines are Emetine eye drops, mast cell stabilisers coloured glycolic acid sodium drops, compounded anti-allergy agents such as Pallotan eye drops and Pimecrolimus potassium eye drops all have anti-itch and anti-allergy effects, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (pralophine eye drops) can also provide a degree of anti-itch relief.
More severe patients may consider using dexamethasone eye drops, but long-term use is not recommended, and it is important to be aware of the side effects of hormones.
