What should I pay attention to before semen examination?

With the improvement of people’s living standard and the importance of eugenics, more and more patients are now having semen examination before childbirth, but they often fail to get accurate examination results due to not paying attention to some small details. So, what matters should be noted in semen examination?

1. Abstain from sex for 3 to 5 days before taking semen, and have no fever symptoms for two weeks, and do not take sauna or tub bath.

2. Semen should be collected by masturbation or in vitro ejaculation, and condoms should not be used.

3. Try to collect semen at the hospital and send it for testing in time. If semen is collected at home, it must be sent to the hospital laboratory within one hour, with attention to insulation on the way.

4. The collection container should be clean and must not be disinfected with alcohol, which will kill the sperm and lead to an increase in the number of dead sperm.

Only by paying attention to these issues, we may obtain more accurate test results, providing a strong basis for the correct assessment of our fertility and reproductive quality.
