Scald recovery generally takes a few days to itch

The recovery from burns generally itches for a few days, mainly related to the severity of the patient’s condition, and should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis, not as a generalization. Normal skin has a long recovery process after a burn. If it is a mild burn, the patient will usually experience localized itching sensation on the wound surface and surrounding tissues during the recovery process, which usually lasts 1-2 months, but the exact time varies from person to person. In case of severe burns, during the recovery period, the skin stratum corneum and subcutaneous tissues are in a state of self-growth and recovery, and itching sensation will occur during the growth process, which usually lasts for about half a year. Patients can stop itching by keeping the wound area moist with wet physiological saline compresses, and if necessary, they can take oral cetirizine tablets for anti-allergy and anti-itch treatment. During the recovery period, patients with burns should psychologically overcome the fear of itching, avoid spicy and stimulating foods and hair products in daily life, and wear loose, cotton clothing.
