What are the causes of polycystic ovaries?

Research has concluded that polycystic ovary syndrome is a condition in which hyperandrogenism is the main clinical manifestation and test result due to abnormalities in the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis and the endocrine function of the pancreas and adrenal glands.
The high level of androgens in the patient’s body inhibits follicular maturation, resulting in anovulation. Patients often present with sparse or amenorrhoeic menstruation, infertility, hirsutism, acne, obesity, and acanthosis nigricans.
