Plasters are not recommended for back pain during pregnancy. Plasters are medicines for traumatic injuries and belong to Chinese medicinal preparations, most of which are anti-inflammatory and analgesic, and their blood-activating and stasis-transforming drug ingredients are more numerous, so any plasters containing musk, frankincense, saffron, myrrh, peach kernel and other blood-activating and stasis-transforming ingredients should be prohibited for pregnant women.
In particular, plasters should not be applied to the umbilicus, abdomen and lumbosacral area of pregnant women to avoid local irritation causing miscarriage.
