Infertility is a group of states of fertility disorders caused by multiple etiologies and is a reproductive ill health event for couples of reproductive age. Assisted reproductive technologies have developed rapidly in recent decades and have helped many infertile couples to obtain offspring. Infertility: women who have been sexually active without contraception for at least 12 months without becoming pregnant are subdivided into 2 major categories: primary asexuality and secondary. Primary infertility: those who have never had a previous history of pregnancy, without contraception, and never become pregnant. Secondary infertility: those who have a history of pregnancy and have not been pregnant for 12 consecutive months without contraception. The prevalence of infertility varies according to countries, ethnic groups and regions, but the prevalence in China is 7-10%. Causes (a) Female factors ①Pelvic factors: including tubal inflammation, pelvic chronic inflammation, endometriosis, endometrial lesions, uterine fibroids, genital tumors, developmental malformations of the reproductive tract, etc. ② Ovulation disorders persistent anovulation, polycystic ovary syndrome, premature ovarian failure and ovarian hypofunction, congenital gonadal dysgenesis, hypogonadotropic gonadal dysfunction, hyperprolactinemia, etc. (2) Male factors: sperm production disorders and sperm transmission disorders ① Semen abnormalities: azoospermia, weak sperm, oligospermia, stagnant sperm development, teratospermia, etc. (2) Sexual function abnormalities: dysplasia of external genitalia or erectile dysfunction, non-ejaculation retrograde ejaculation, etc. (iii) Unexplained infertility: infertility factors that may exist simultaneously in both men and women. It is a state of low fertility, and the possible causes include immune factors, potential oocyte quality abnormalities, fertilization disorders, hidden tubal factors, etc. Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART): A group of methods to help infertile couples conceive by using microscopic manipulation techniques on gametes and embryos in vitro, including artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer and their derivative techniques.
