How is spastic paraplegia treated?

Patient: 20 years of spastic paraplegia. In 2008, I was diagnosed in your hospital and recommended to take “baclofen tablets” made in Taiwan. Should I continue to take “baclofen tablets” or other drugs? Beijing Tiantan Hospital Neurology Department: Hereditary spastic paraplegia is a hereditary disease, which usually manifests as increased muscle tone in the lower limbs, i.e. stiff and clumsy lower limbs, spastic gait, easy A-fall, hyperactive tendon reflexes in the lower limbs on neurological examination, and positive pathological signs. There is usually no sensory disturbance. It may be accompanied by urinary urgency. If the diagnosis of spastic paraplegia has been confirmed in our hospital, it is recommended that you review the information on hereditary spastic paraplegia. Treatment is mainly symptomatic, relieving some clinical symptoms, such as reducing muscle tone with muscle relaxants or botulinum toxin, but there is no curative drug. Suggestions: the dose of baclofen can be adjusted appropriately, or the use of Myna, injections of botulinum toxin, to reduce muscle tone.
