Congenital astigmatism is often due to genetic factors, which means that one or both parents have astigmatism. In addition to congenital astigmatism, trauma, surgery, eyelid pressure, poor eye habits, and lack of outdoor exercise may also lead to astigmatism. Astigmatism refers to the different refractive power of the eye on different meridians. Parallel light rays passing through the refractive system of the eye cannot form a focal point after refraction, but form two focal lines, that is, the light rays passing through the eye are not focused and form a scattered object. Therefore, there will be double vision. Mild astigmatism does not affect vision and can be left untreated. Medium to high astigmatism has a significant impact on vision and may lead to amblyopia if not treated, so glasses are needed and surgery is also available after the age of 18. Daily, we should reduce the use of electronic products, more outdoor activities, sleep at night without night lights, and eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.
