The common clinical manifestations of anal sinusitis are incomplete defecation, swelling, pain and anal itching.
1. Chronic sinusitis is often asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic.
2. Acute phase anal sinusitis is often associated with anal canal pain, anal swelling, and a strong sensation of downward movement. The pain increases during defecation, often manifesting as stabbing and tearing pain, and in severe cases may also cause pain in other adjacent areas such as the buttocks and perineum. It may also lead to a lack of urination. It can also cause itching of the anal skin.
