The importance of fractional laser in scar treatment

1.The skin reconstruction of traumatic scars with ablative fractional laser can improve not only the appearance but also the function in a sustained and significant way. 2.Exfoliative CO2 fractional laser is a more effective treatment than non-exfoliative fractional laser. This is mainly due to the fact that the exfoliative CO2 fractional laser penetrates deeper for hyperplastic and contracted scars, causing the surrounding tissue to coagulate and causing a stronger remodeling response. 3, Laser repair of surgical scars can reduce early burn excision and grafting and exclude or reduce donor area complications, thus restoring a more natural appearance to the treated area. 4, Laser treatment, especially the ablative CO2 fractional laser will play a more important role in scar repair, including the possibility of early intervention to avoid atrophy and aid in wound healing. Note: Professor R. Rox Anderson, the first ranked person in this article, is the inventor of the theory and instrumentation of fractional laser treatment of scars, and he himself is a dermatologist and scientist. The person with the most practice and experience with laser treatment of burn and traumatic scars is Professor Matthias B. Donelan, the second ranked person in this article, who is also my mentor at Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston I studied fractional laser clinical techniques for the treatment of burns and traumatic scars with him systematically.
