If the hairy sinus recurs after surgery, the patient may choose to treat the sinus with anhydrous alcohol injection, but this method may have the possibility of recurrence, and then the patient may choose to have another surgery to remove the cyst, which must ensure complete removal of the entire cyst, while taking care to protect the patient’s sacrococcygeal structures to avoid damage. The hairy sinus occurs in patients who are hairy, have well-developed sebaceous glands or who have frequent trauma and long-term pressure and abrasion on the sacrococcygeal area, where cystic masses appear, containing small amounts of hair, which are the distinctive features of the hairy sinus. Patients are advised to undergo surgery in a timely manner once they are diagnosed with hidrocystic sinus. Since hidrocystic sinus is a cyst, it has unclear borders, deep location, and sometimes is accompanied by secondary infection, so surgery is may not be able to remove the cyst wall completely before it leads to postoperative recurrence.
