Since the implementation of integrated treatment of urinary stones in our hospital, our department has analyzed more than 600 patients in Ningbo area for urinary stones using infrared spectrum analyzer and provided corresponding dietary guidance. The results of stone analysis: calcium oxalate-calcium phosphate mixed stones and calcium oxalate monohydrate, calcium oxalate dihydrate mixed stones accounted for 89%, uric acid stones accounted for 6%. Other magnesium ammonium phosphate and cystine stones accounted for about 5%. Once clearly diagnosed, urinary stones can be effectively treated, including surgery, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy or pharmacological stone removal. Although many patients can be treated successfully in a single visit, there is a fairly high recurrence rate. Studies have shown that patients with urolithiasis who do not receive effective prophylaxis have a lifetime recurrence rate of nearly 100%; in contrast, those who receive prophylaxis have a recurrence rate of only 15%, so it is critical to prevent stone recurrence.
