Is cholangitis serious?

Cholangitis is one of the more serious clinical conditions, with acute cholangitis starting more rapidly and progressing rapidly. The main manifestations are abdominal pain, chills and high fever, jaundice, often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and neurological symptoms, mainly apathy and lethargy. In severe cases, symptoms such as shock and hypotension may occur and may even be life-threatening. Acute obstructive septic cholangitis has a high mortality rate if not treated promptly and should be taken seriously.
