Did you know about foreskin impaction?

A few days ago, a friend called and said that his college-aged son suddenly developed penile foreskin edema, purple with pain, and went to the hospital in an emergency, where the doctor told him that his child was suffering from foreskin impaction, and that the surgery failed to reset the foreskin. He is now more worried, on the one hand, he wants to know what is foreskin ingrowth, on the other hand, he wants to know if there is any effect on future marriage and fertility.

It is true that few people know about foreskin impaction, but we are familiar with circumcision and prepuce. Circumcision and prepuce are found in a certain percentage of male college students. After puberty, the glans of most boys’ penises will be exposed, but about one-third of them do not, and are still wrapped in the foreskin. If the foreskin can flip out and reveal the glans, medically it is called circumcision; if the foreskin cannot be turned up and the glans cannot be exposed, it is called prepuce. If the foreskin cannot be turned up and the glans cannot be exposed, it is called a prepuce. A prepuce may make it difficult for the glans to come out and affect growth and development. When the foreskin is turned up, the foreskin fails to return in time and is narrowed in a circular manner. When the narrow foreskin is tightly embedded in the upper end of the coronal sulcus of the penis, it leads to foreskin edema, which affects the venous and lymphatic flow and makes the head of the penis and foreskin swell. When embedded for a long time, because the local blood and lymphatic flow is blocked, may lead to bruising, edema and pain of the foreskin and penis head, and even ulcers, extensive necrosis, the consequences are quite serious, parents must not be careless. Therefore, we should pay attention to circumcision and prepuce, especially young parents should pay more attention to the occurrence of foreskin impaction. Circumcision is a urological emergency, once it occurs, you should immediately go to the hospital. Most patients with foreskin imbedded can be released from the imbedded through manual reset, so that the foreskin remains turned down, the local reflux is smooth, and the foreskin edema can disappear after a few days. For those who have been embedded for a long time, if the manual reset is not successful, surgery under local anesthesia is often required to cut open the narrowed foreskin ring longitudinally to release the embeddedness and unblock the blood flow. The operation is simple and easy, and the result is good. The overgrown foreskin is removed during or after surgery. The cure will not affect the child’s future marriage and fertility.

The causes of foreskin impaction are as follows.

1, after puberty, the boy’s penis will spontaneously appear erect to turn up the foreskin and not reset in time; 2, occasionally boys out of curiosity, can also use their hands to turn up the foreskin and not reset in time; 3, regardless of age, in the case of erect penis such as after sex, forcibly turned up the foreskin is not reset in time.

Knowing the cause, you can prevent the occurrence of foreskin impaction.

Since adolescent prepuce and foreskin do not affect the current study and life, coupled with the lack of knowledge about hygiene, often do not receive timely treatment.

Therefore, in strengthening the health education of the external genitalia of adolescent students, increase their health knowledge, improve their awareness of self-prevention and treatment, then parents need to pay attention to the circumcision of the child, such as the circumcision or prepuce too long, narrow circumcision mouth or prepuce penis head adhesion serious recurrent infection, must often wash, when conditions allow should be circumcised as soon as possible. And tell your child to return the upturned foreskin in a timely manner, once it is difficult to return, you should go to the hospital to seek help from the doctor.
