Timing and need for follow-up after cleft palate surgery

Three months to six months after cleft palate surgery, parents need to bring their children back to the hospital to check for wound healing and improvement in articulation, and a formal speech evaluation can be done when they reach the age of 3. After the speech evaluation, we can find out the problems in the child’s speech, and based on these problems, we can then develop further treatment plans. It is very important to follow up at the time requested by the doctor, so that we can identify the problems in the process of learning to speak and give timely guidance and correction, so that the child will not miss the best time to learn language.
