What are the dietary considerations after cleft palate surgery?

1.Sleep on your stomach or side to facilitate the flow of sputum or secretions from the mouth. 2.Eating starts with liquid food (such as milk, milk products, juice, soup, rice soup, ice cream, etc.) or soft food (such as thin rice, noodles, cake, steamed egg, fish, jelly, puree, etc.), and only then the general diet. Younger children should pay attention to whether or not they have been given a side dish before changing the type of food they eat according to their doctor’s instructions and getting the proper nutrition. When eating, it is advisable to use cups, spoons, special plastic bottles, hospital feeding droppers, milk bottles and other tableware. 3.The wound is in the mouth, so there is no need to remove the stitches. 4.After each meal and before bedtime, you need to brush your teeth and rinse your mouth. You can give your child water to drink if you can’t rinse your mouth to keep your mouth clean and hygienic. 5.Do not allow children to put sharp objects into the mouth, and do not drink irritating drinks or food (such as: soft drinks, cola, chili, pepper, tobacco, wine, etc.). 6.Avoid loud crying and screaming after surgery, but speak softly. 7.If you have a persistent cough during hospitalization, you should inform the medical staff. If this occurs after returning home, you should seek medical attention.
