There are two surgical options for treating ptosis

There are two categories: 1) enhancement of the function of the levator muscle by shortening or shortening the levator muscle plus advancing the stop edge; 2) strengthening or replacing the levator muscle with adjacent muscles or implants, such as using the frontalis and superior rectus muscles to raise the position of the upper lid margin. (1) Epiglottis shortening: This has been refined by numerous operators and can be broadly divided into a transconjunctival incision (internal incision) and a transcutaneous incision (external incision) or a combined conjunctival and skin incision. It is indicated for mild or moderate congenital ptosis either bilaterally or unilaterally. However, this method is limited to mild to moderate ptosis where the levator muscle is partially functional. If the levator muscle is poorly functional the surgical result may not be ideal and can lead to serious postoperative complications such as severe lid closure incompleteness and diplopia. (2) Frontalis lift: There are two types of frontalis lift: one is to use various materials or tissues to help link the lid plate and frontalis muscle, indirectly using the frontalis muscle force to correct ptosis. The disadvantage is that the patient has to make more incisions in the thigh, which is not easily accepted by the patient and the operator finds it troublesome, and the patient has to use the contraction of the frontalis muscle to lift the eyebrows to make the lid crack open, so the patient has different degrees of eyebrow lifting after surgery. Another method is to directly use the frontalis muscle to make a frontalis flap, which is sutured to the upper eyelid plate, and directly use the frontalis muscle to lift the upper eyelid to correct ptosis, called frontalis muscle flap direct suspension. It can also be used in cases where other surgical methods have failed to correct ptosis. Because it is a dynamic procedure, patients can not only open their eyes but also close them after treatment. In addition, the deep forehead wrinkles can disappear naturally after surgery, making the forehead appear wide and flat, and patients can also obtain the cosmetic effect of heavy eyelids after surgery.
