Healthy newborns can develop physiological jaundice 2-3 days after birth, with symptoms of jaundice such as yellowing of the skin and urine, generally peaking in 4-5 days and subsiding in 5-7 days, not exceeding 2 weeks at the latest. If jaundice symptoms such as skin jaundice and yellowing of urine appear within 24 hours of birth, pathological jaundice needs to be considered and prompt medical attention is required.
