The stellate ganglion is mainly composed of the fusion of the inferior cervical ganglion and the 1st thoracic sympathetic ganglion, which are the main sympathetic ganglia innervating the head, face, neck, upper thorax and upper extremities. Stellate ganglion block (SGB) can block the preganglionic and postganglionic fibers, so the cardiovascular movement, glandular secretion, muscle tone, bronchial contraction and nerve fibers transmitting nociceptive sensation under the innervation of these sympathetic ganglia can be blocked, which can improve the circulatory disorders, nociceptive hypersensitivity and abnormal sweating caused by sympathetic overexcitation. Therefore, its clinical indications are quite wide, such as: herpes zoster, burning pain, insomnia, hyperhidrosis, headache, cerebrovascular spasm, cerebral thrombosis, cerebral infarction, peripheral facial nerve paresthesia, trigeminal neuralgia, allergic rhinitis, optic neuritis, corneal ulcer, sudden deafness, tinnitus, vertigo, frozen shoulder, cervical spondylosis, chronic constipation, phantom limb pain, indeterminate cliché syndrome, etc. After decades of research and study, the treatment scope of stellate ganglion block is becoming more and more extensive and the therapeutic effect is more definite. In developed countries, SGB accounts for 50% to 80% of all nerve blocks in Japan, but it has not been carried out universally in China for a long time. The most critical problem is that the site of stellate ganglion block is special and requires a very skilled physician to operate, and concerns about complications have discouraged some physicians or patients from performing SGB, thus hindering the promotion and development of SGB. However, due to medical demand, stellate ganglion block technology has started to become increasingly popular in large hospitals in China in recent years, and more and more diseases are treated with stellate ganglion block, such as the more common diseases: migraine, tension headache, cerebrovascular disease, cervical spondylosis, postherpetic pain, cardiac neurosis, etc., all of which are treated with this method with certain efficacy. We believe that the use of stellate ganglion block, a practical treatment technique, will allow more people to get rid of their diseases and improve their quality of life.
