Why is a cystoscopy performed before surgery?

  Patients with vesicovaginal fistula need further clarification by preoperative cystoscopy, as it is decisive for further surgical treatment.  The nature of the fistula, the number, location, size, and mucosa of the surrounding tissues; high vesicovaginal fistula (above the ureteral crest) is not suitable for transvaginal repair; 2. The condition of the bladder, the capacity of the bladder, and the presence of inflammation and stones in the bladder are all relevant for surgical treatment and postoperative outcome; 3. It is also important for further surgical treatment of vesicovaginal fistula to protect the ureter intraoperatively or to perform ureteral bladder reimplantation.
