How to prevent nosebleeds in winter

After entering winter, rhinorrhea increases significantly. The majority of elderly people often think it is due to “fire”, but the essence is that the elderly nasal glands atrophy, secretions decrease, vascular sclerosis, increased brittleness, capillaries are easy to rupture and cause rhinorrhea. Especially the elderly who suffer from hypertension and arteriosclerosis are more likely to have rhinorrhea. After entering winter, the temperature drops significantly and the external environment becomes cold and dry, which makes it easier to cause. The first step to take after a nosebleed in the elderly is to stop the bleeding: you can first pinch the nasal flanks of the elderly with your hands and compress them for 5 to 10 minutes. However, nasal bleeding in the elderly is often posterior nasal bleeding, which is often impossible to handle at home. After a little treatment at home, it is important to go to the hospital in time to take measures to stop the bleeding and to conduct some necessary tests to find out the cause of the bleeding and to treat it symptomatically and prevent it. Older people also often suffer from ruptured blood vessels in the nasal cavity due to increased venous pressure caused by violent coughing. Therefore, it is important to prevent colds and treat chronic coughs, etc. Some nosebleeds may be the only early manifestation of hematological diseases and malignant tumors of the nasal cavity, sinuses and nasopharynx. Therefore, it is necessary for patients with rhinorrhea, especially elderly patients with rhinorrhea, to undergo relevant examinations. The use of nasal endoscopy to find the bleeding point and plasma hemostasis technique has the advantages of being minimally invasive, accurate, and with little side effects.
